WHAT IS ORGANIC FOOD

Organic food and health are two issues that often walk hand in hand. Preferring a healthy, balanced diet rich in natural, wholesome and quality products often results in the choice to adhere to an organic diet and, therefore, the purchase of organic products.

There are several reasons for this: the absence of harmful and toxic substances, antibiotics, but also the fact that organic products are naturally richer in nutrients and taste, close to the genuine flavors of the past, respecting the environment and its organisms.

Being able to embrace such philosophies today is much easier: more and more breeders, farmers and companies are choosing organic because first and foremost they believe it is healthier, more sustainable, tastier and, in general, more respectful.

THE BENEFITS OF AN ORGANIC DIET

Choosing organic food does not only mean preferring controlled and nutritionally better products, but it also means becoming actors in the fight against climate change, conscious consumers who prefer quality to quantity, choosing realities committed to promoting a different food culture respecting animal welfare and products from the point of view of sustainability and ethics.

There are many differences between organic and traditional food and (positive) characteristics that are exclusive to organic food. Some of these are so undeniable that, today, organic food is so beneficial and we can say that eating organic is not only good for you, but better for you!

If you still have doubts, here are 3 of the best reasons why we should all eat organic:

1. ALLIES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

Farms that embrace philosophies for organic food production, or specifically organic cured meats, release nearly half the greenhouse gas and nitrogen emissions of conventional farms. Organic farms are also careful to preserve biodiversity and firmly limit the use of chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and antibiotics, as well as other toxic and harmful substances.

2. BETTER NUTRITIONAL VALUES AND BANNED SUBSTANCES

The processing of organic raw materials, which is more natural and less aggressive than conventional processing, also contributes to better products.

Companies promoting organic food and, in our case, organic cured meats, sustain a more natural approach to the processing of the product itself, excluding the use of chemical and synthetic ingredients, halving the presence of additives and preservatives, and limiting as much as possible the contamination with other ingredients such as dairy derivatives, gluten, nitrites and nitrates-if you do not know what they are used for you can get clarity by reading this article.

3. ALL-AROUND SUSTAINABILITY

Choosing organic food means not only environmental or nutritional sustainability, but also ethics! Choosing organic entails adhering to farms that triple the welfare conditions of the animal, providing ample open-air space (which also decreases the likelihood of contracting diseases and having to use antibiotics because of that), a healthy diet, and a spontaneous life cycle in which nature can take its natural course.

THE EXCELLENCE OF ORGANIC CURED MEATS: PEDRAZZOLI PRODUCTS

Salumificio Pedrazzoli has been committed to the promotion of organic culture for many years, doing so at the forefront as a pioneer of organic cured meats in Italy with Salumificio Pedrazzoli’s PrimaVera line, where taste meets sustainability and awareness in organic products, agree with the filosofy of farm-to-fork, a closed and respectful production cycle.

Salumificio Pedrazzoli has been industry excellence at a time when it seemed impossible that a product like a salumi could be organic (as Elisa Pedrazzoli herself recounts in an interview about organic salumi a few years ago).

Since those early years, the ideal that the Salumificio wants to convey is that of food as an extension of nature, moving from organic farming to freerange farming methods to pig welfare and the importance of a new organic culture.

Here is an example of what Pedrazzoli’s focus is, starting with the care of the farms.
