OUR SINGLE SUPPLY CHAIN makes Salumificio Pedrazzoli almost unique in the Italian industry and beyond, partly because it boasts – alongside only a few others in the sector – a genuinely integrated supply chain from field to fork.
We grow the best feed crops out in the fields, and use it to produce most of the natural feed we give to our pigs – in our organic line, for example.
For our organic line, where we do not meet the demand ourselves, we purchase feed directly from producers who demonstrate environmental awareness and respect for biodiversity: our supply chain simply could not be more secure.
One asset we cannot emphasise enough is our ability here at Salumificio Pedrazzoli to control, from in-house, a 100% uninterrupted (and top-quality) supply chain all the way from field to fork. A fact many are unaware of is that farming (organic farming, in particular!) requires – with no exceptions – organic land.
We are truly unique in our field: we rear the pigs, we process the pork, but we also grow the feed!
Our soil has to be organic – particularly with regard to ensuring the right animal-to-organic-acreage ratio. Secondly, it is important to be able to guarantee the best and most healthy diet for your own animals. This means that we grow the majority of our natural ingredients on the organic lands cultivated by our family, in order to provide a balanced and healthy diet for our pigs.
With particular – but not exclusive – regard to our organic line, our philosophy is to be as self-sufficient as possible and produce most the natural ingredients that go into our pig feed ourselves.
Quality is grown in the fields - even when it comes to deli meats!
Sorghum, oats, corn, barley are just a few of the organic crops directly managed and controlled by Salumificio Pedrazzoli. Every year we painstakingly produce the main ingredients for our animal feed from our own organic crops. Quality is grown in the fields – even when it comes to deli meats!
Where we do not meet the entire demand ourselves, we purchase feed directly from producers who have demonstrated unusual levels of environmental awareness and respect for nature over the years, as part of a chiefly ethical approach which safeguards tomorrow’s world by taking action today: this is the basis of our secure supply chain. On this matter, we prefer to let one of our “oldest” partners, Gian Alfredo Cucchi, do the talking in the following video.
The first rule of nature is biodiversity (Gian Alfredo Cucchi)
